A calzone is a folded Italian pastry or pizza turnover typically made from pizza dough. It’s similar to a pizza, but the ingredients are enclosed inside the dough and baked, resulting in a semi-circular or crescent-shaped pocket of goodness. A Calzone is the Italian version of the much loved Pasty!

Calzones are traditionally stuffed with cheese, tomatoes, and marinara. But much like the pizza, any sort of toppings can be added inside the calzone. We added a simple bolognaise sauce.
